VESTAS HIRING FOR FRESHERS
Role: Graduate Engineer Trainee
Key Responsibilities:
- The Product Data Management (PDM) professional plays a pivotal role in supporting design and production processes by ensuring smooth implementation of product changes across the value chain. This role requires handling multiple data management tasks, facilitating change processes, and maintaining accurate production documentation.
- A primary responsibility involves creating, reviewing, and managing Problem Reports (PRs), Change Requests (CRs), and Change Notices (CNs) using the PDMLink Windchill platform. These documents are critical in capturing product issues, proposing changes, and documenting their resolution. The PDM professional ensures that each change follows the appropriate workflow, enabling accurate tracking and traceability.
- In addition to managing change documentation, the PDM professional is responsible for developing and updating the Production Bill of Materials (P-BOM). This process involves coordinating with factories and incorporating adjustments made to the Global Bill of Materials (G-BOM). The professional ensures that P-BOMs reflect the latest product designs and are tailored to meet the specific requirements of production sites.
- Ensuring that production plants and supplier networks are aligned with design changes is another critical task. The PDM professional facilitates the timely implementation of design updates across manufacturing units, ensuring that all production processes are based on accurate, up-to-date information.
- The role also involves managing the phase-in and phase-out of materials and components. When new materials are introduced or old ones are discontinued, the PDM professional assesses inventory levels, considers open purchase orders, and collaborates with production teams to ensure a seamless transition without disrupting production schedules.
- Verifying the accuracy and completeness of the Bill of Materials before production is another key responsibility. Every design change can potentially impact multiple parts, processes, or suppliers. The PDM professional carefully reviews BOM updates to prevent errors that could result in production delays or quality issues.
- Maintaining master data consistency across systems is equally important. The PDM professional ensures that all product and material data are standardized and aligned with global governance policies. This involves working closely with cross-functional teams to prevent discrepancies and maintain data accuracy across different platforms.
- Another crucial responsibility includes enriching Global Material Master attributes within Windchill PDMLink and SAP systems. Accurate material master data is essential for smooth operations across the supply chain, from procurement to production. The PDM professional updates and validates this data to ensure that all materials are correctly classified and readily available in the system.
- Additionally, the PDM professional participates in Engineering Change Management (ECM) meetings alongside representatives from design, production, procurement, and other departments. These meetings serve as a forum to discuss proposed product changes, evaluate their impact, and ensure cross-functional alignment before implementation.
Qualifications and Educational Background:
- To qualify for this role, candidates should hold a degree in Engineering, preferably in Mechanical, Electrical & Electronics (EEE), or Mechatronics disciplines. The position is open to fresh graduates and individuals with up to six months of professional experience, making it an excellent entry-level opportunity in the manufacturing and renewable energy sectors.
Core Competencies and Skills:
- Success in this role requires a blend of technical knowledge and soft skills. Familiarity with change management processes is crucial, as the PDM professional will navigate product updates and ensure their smooth adoption across the organization.
- Effective stakeholder management is another vital competency. Since this role involves coordination with global teams across different time zones, strong communication and collaboration skills are essential. The ability to engage with diverse stakeholders ensures that product changes are implemented efficiently and without miscommunication.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint is required for tracking progress, analyzing data, and presenting reports. Experience with Excel macros and visualization tools like Power BI is an added advantage, enabling professionals to automate tasks and generate insights from complex data sets.
- Strong planning and organizational skills are essential, as the PDM professional often handles multiple tasks simultaneously. The ability to prioritize work and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment is crucial for ensuring that product changes are implemented on time.
- Fluency in English, both verbal and written, is required, given the global nature of the role and the need to collaborate with international teams.
